Ministry Update: Steps
SALT emphasizes the concept of steps in our training. We teach 200 steps through the Old and New Testaments. We prefer deliberate intentional steps over wild leaps and bounds, believing those steps to be more trustworthy and bear more long-term fruit. However, just because we take deliberate steps does not mean the progress is slow. Every mountain is climbed one step at a time, and once in a while, you can look back and see how far the steps have taken you.
This past week, we finished two years of teaching with staff members from International Care Ministries. They have been teaching SALT courses to hundreds of ultra poor pastors in central and southern Philippines. One of the joys of multi-year projects is seeing progress as we compare where the students are now, to where they were 2 years ago. Here are a few snapshots of that progress:

They have been teaching SALT courses to hundreds of ultra poor pastors in central and southern Philippines. One of the joys of multi-year projects is seeing progress as we compare where the students are now, to where they were 2 years ago. Here are a few snapshots of that progress:
Watching someone teach a lesson with bold confidence who was a nervous wreck last year.
Watching a skilled and experienced teacher incorporate SALT strategy as a central part of his teaching after being initially resistant to trying new things.
Watching people who struggled to remember steps 1-35 be able to master all
200 steps through the Bible.
Watching a young man who was unsure about teaching in the church become a relied-upon teacher with even his own pastor being under his instruction.
