Things We Will Miss, Part 2: Friends

In this series, I will attempt to record some of the most meaningful elements from our seven years in Hong Kong. These years have been hard and good. We have felt alone and at home. Some things we will not miss at all, but others we will miss dearly. I will always be more practical than sentimental, but that should not discount the depth of appreciation that we have for the people, places, memories, opportunities, and growth that has happened during our time in Hong Kong.

Friends.

More than anything else about Hong Kong, we will miss our people. It took years to get to the point of having the community that we have now and it seems terrible to start all over again. We have people who know us, know our struggles, know our stories, know our dreams, know our kids, and have spoken truth and love into every aspect of life. It is a beautiful thing that we do not take for granted.

I have met weekly, in some capacity, with the ladies in the picture below, some for as many as 6 years and some as little as 6 months. Each of them has played such an important role in my life, helping me to grow as a person and pointing me towards Christ.

Feeling completely comfortable with a friend, being able to talk about everything or nothing, is something to be celebrated!

And so we did!

We celebrated 102 floors above this spectacular city that has been home.

With food that was nearly as tasty as it was beautiful.

Gazing below at the marvels of modern infrastructure that cause a road to simply disappear under the water.

Thank you, friends. I will miss you all... those pictured and many more not pictured... more than you know.
