Only the beginning...

My mom starting singing a silly kid song to Josiah while we were riding in the car the other day.

While doing various motions, this is the song:
Open, shut them, open, shut them, give a little clap!
Open, shut them, open, shut them, put them in your lap.
Creep them, creep them, creep them, creep them, right up to your chin.
Open up your little mouth, but do not put them in!

He has since been pointing at her and saying "sing," though no other song will satisfy his demand for her to sing. Tonight at dinner he actually tried to sing some of it. He definitly said "open, shut them" with a bit of variation in the tone of his voice.

It seems that maybe the singing has begun!

  1. So funny! We actually sing the first part of the song to get our nursery kids ready to pray. (...fold them in your lap, instead of put them in your lap...). Fun to hear the rest of the song! I'd never heard it before until I started working in our nursery at church. My mom taught Sienna to sing "Hit the road, Jack." It's so funny. She gets her finger wagging on the "don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more..." LOVE this stage!

  2. Our girls LOVE this song! We do a variation for praying or just to have a shortened version before reading books so they sit still. But the longer version, like you typed, we learned from story time at the library. We did it 100 times a day forever...good luck with that. :)
