The VAn Trip

We left Tuesday morning at 5:30am in our mini van. (Yes, we have a mini van. It was a gift from Nathan's grandma and will certainly be a blessing as we travel around with a baby. But it is weird that we have a mini van. We still have the Toyota, but are planning to sell it sometime soon.) Anyway, back to the trip. So we traveled for about 10 hours, only stopping twice and arrived in Virginia Tuesday afternoon. (Thank you, God, for a baby that travels well!) We had a great week visiting Papa's side of the family, all of whom I had never met. We did not do a great job taking pictures. At all. We have no good pictures of our Virginia family and none of all of us together. But of course we have some pictures of baby.

We hung out a lot at the farm. The farm had horses, goats, and chickens. Josiah liked the chickens. They almost ate my toes.

We went swimming quite a bit. Josiah has been swimming twice before, but this was the first time he really enjoyed it. He loved to splash and kick and preferred to be held rather than be confined to his crab float.

Other than swim and hang out on the farm, we went to Williamsburg, went bowling, went fishing, went to a barrel race, and went to church. Nathan caught multiple fish, which made him happy. Josiah and I went out on the boat for a short while and Joe really liked the wind in his face. But I have no pictures of any of that. On to the barrel racing. Nathan got eat a bologna burger... fried bologna, coleslaw, and chili... he loved it!
Josiah had fun watching the horses and poking horses in the eyes. In the second video, notice how Josiah watches the horse during the entire race. He did this race after race.

Video 1: Josiah pokes horse in the eye.

Video 2: Josiah tracks the horse.

Video 3: Josiah loves the horses.

Josiah got to ride a horse for the first time.

And so did I!
Josiah also got to sit on a tracker in his trucker hat and John Deer camo outfit (thanks Uncle Roger and Aunt Marcie!). Can you see how hot it was?
Josiah has been declared a redneck baby by our Virginia family... not sure how our SoCal family will feel about that! :)
And then as we turned out of the driveway on our way home Sunday afternoon, the van died. But thankfully it was fixed for $170 (we were afraid it would be much more based on the symptoms of the van) and we were on our way the following day. After an extra day on the farm and some rough DC traffic, we made it back to Ohio safe and sound Monday night. It was a fun trip!!

  5. A grandson who is a redneck! Well, that won't be a problem when young Mr. Redneck visits Cleveland County.
