The Pacifier vs. The Thumb

For the first week of Josiah's life, he didn't get a pacifier. I was too afraid it would interfere with his ability to latch. But it quickly became apparent that he needed to suck more than just when he ate. So we gave him a pacifier. He loved it and it became our friend for fussy times, sleepy times, hungry times (when I couldn't nurse him right away), etc. But lately he has been discarding the pacifier in favor of a new friend...
