Some Firsts

Last night, Nathan and I were ready for bed and Josiah was not. So we put him in his crib and got in bed. He lay there kicking a sucking on his fist for a while. Then he eventually managed to isolate his thumb and as he sucked his thumb his eyes got heavy and he drifted off to sleep. It was so incredibly cute! Then I watched him for a while in case he startled and I needed to comfort and swaddle him. But he never startled and slept peacefully. So we may be done with the swaddle blanket, which is good because he hates it if he is even the slightest bit awake.

Tonight, we were blessed to experience poop reaching Josiah's neck. Many other people were also blessed with the experience as it happened while we were at small group at someone else's house. So with all the baby wipes in the diaper bag and a few paper towels, everything got cleaned up without getting any poop on our hosts' carpet. The sensation of feeling poop cover my hand as I unknowingly lifted up his shirt is not one I hope to experience again anytime soon.

And now some pictures of the little poop maker (and his mommy).

  1. Haha! We've never had a poop that far-reaching!!! And since we switched to cloth, the blow-outs decreased dramatically, so ya know. ;-) (It's the elastic waistband - works wonders!)

He's a cutie! Thanks for the pictures!
