Sticks and Stones

Josiah LOVES outside. Have I said that before? Well, it needs to be repeated. So we've been exploring some parks. Portage has several very nice parks, one in particular has great playground equipment for Joe, which is hard to find for a little one. But playground equipment is secondary to nature in Josiah's book, which I suppose I appreciate. Though I also appreciate the containing aspect of a playground. Anyway, here are few pictures of the boy with his sticks and stones.

He started out with little rocks, but soon found bigger ones.

Squinty boy in the sun.
Ooo, a bigger rock.
Celebrating his rocks.
I may have accidentally taught/encouraged him to throw rocks. It seemed like something his dad would appreciate.
If one walking stick is good, two are clearly better.
We found a nice path through the woods in one of the parks. The path is about 1/8 of a mile and Josiah loved walking and finding interesting things along the way. I was even tricked into thinking we were not the in the middle of a city. Excellent!
This is a paved path that continues for several miles through the middle of Portage. Lots of people walk their dogs along the path, which Josiah loves. Here are a few seconds of him running along.

  1. Sticks, stones, and a walking trail - life is great! (Now, he needs a tree to climb.)
