Why we won't be building a snowman better than Kara's.
On Christmas, it snowed in South Carolina. And my sister built this little snow boy.
She may have had other people help her, but for the sake of not insulting the other people, we'll say it was just her. You can't really call it a snowman. Not only because of it's size, but also because it is clearly has not matured into having the 3 sections that we all know are characteristic of snowmen.
So when the weather forecasters were amazingly correct about the 6 inches of snow we got on Monday, Nathan was pretty excited about building a gigantic snowMAN. We played out in the snow on Monday, but it was still too fluffy and powdery to stick together.
Unfortunately, the forecasters were also correct about what followed the snow. Ice. Late Monday afternoon the snow turned to freezing rain and by Tuesday much of the snow had melted and a layer of ice covered everything. The following pictures were taken Tuesday evening, but this is how things were all day. When we walked out on the snow, it just cracked into plates.
And the obvious thing to do in this situation is to pick up large plate of ice,
hold it while you pose for a picture despite the intense freezing pain in your hand,
and throw it.
Well, here's more of an action shot.
And as you can see, there's no longer 6 inches of snowman building snow under that ice. Sad times.
So I'll leave you with a picture of what once was and what could have been again.
Good chronicle of events--filled with pathos and at the end tragedy. Looking for other installments that strike the chords of the heart
