To church we go!

One of our considerations in choosing a church is location. I suppose this is true for most everyone everywhere, but since we can't just jump in a car and drive to church, it has a pretty big impact on our decision. For example, will the ferry or bus schedule allow us to actually make it to church on time? How much does it cost to get to church with the various forms of public transportation involved? Will we be able to have fellowship with people from that church during the week, based on the location of where most of them live?

In the previous post, I mentioned that we attended DBICC during the month of July. To get to DBICC we 1) bike 10 minutes, 2) ferry 25 minutes, 3) taxi 10 minutes...

Lemon Coke is a requirement for going to church for 3 reasons:
1. Sleepless nights.
2. Preventing puking.
3. It is unavailable in the States and therefore more awesome.

Josiah and Daddy have fun on the ferry.

Josiah and Mommy make faces at each other.

Josiah plays with Daddy's sunglasses.

And shows off both his cuteness and scraped nose.

Josiah stares out the window at the deep water.
Where whale sharks live. At least that's what he tells us.

On the way home from church we 1) bus 10 minutes, [eat lunch] 2) walk 10 minutes, 3) ferry 25 minutes, 4) bike 10 minutes. It's mostly just a reverse of getting there except that it's in the heat of the day. And that additional 10 minute walk is brutal in the noon sun. By the time we get home, we're fairly exhausted... both because isn't everyone usually exhausted on Sunday afternoons? and because we have sweated through our clothes multiple times.

So after an afternoon nap (if you can't sleep at 3 a.m., you may as well sleep at 3 p.m.) we grab a pizza (from a local Indian restaurant) and head down to the beach for a relaxing picnic. We haven't done it enough times to say it's tradition, but it sounds like it would make a pretty great tradition, dontcha think?

Praise God for the cool breeze and relaxing water of Sunday evening!
