It's cold up north!

This weekend we went to northern Michigan. And as we drove we watched the leaves change colors. I'm definitely looking forward to the trees down here becoming more and more beautiful in the coming weeks. We stopped at a playground on the way up to get some of the car crazies out. None of these pictures do justice to God's beautiful creation, but here they are anyway.

And here's a video from the park that highlights our good parenting skills.

We went up north so that Nathan could introduce some Ugandan missionaries to SALT's curriculum. It was definitely a working weekend for him, but at least there was restful beauty all around. We stayed in this cute cottage...
...that was across the street from the marina.

So while Nathan was teaching, Josiah and I wandered around Boyne City. Downtown was closed off for the Saturday Farmer's market. We sampled carmel corn, ate apple donuts, and generally shivered in the cold.
We did not try any chocolate covered potato chips, but when Nathan saw this picture, he was quite upset with me for not getting him any.
When we were cold and bored from wandering the streets, we went to the library, which thankfully had a very nice children's section. Here's a video from the library:

This picture would have been pretty cool if it wasn't blurry.

A few other tidbits from the weekend...

Josiah pooped 7 times in the 24 hour period between Friday and Saturday afternoon. Seems as though I dumped a bit too much flax seed in those banana oatmeal muffins?

Josiah has learned to turn someone's face with his hands if they are not paying attention to him.

Josiah got pretty beat up this weekend with several falls. He got his first puffy lip, though you can't really see it in this picture.
Overall, a fun and productive get away!

  3. I agree with Nathan, chocolate covered potato chips sound like a good idea.
